....has been touted recently on BITOG....that many blends, and some dinos have 60% synthetic. Is this true ?

Is there any verifiable proof....that this is true?....or is this just a guess or speculation ?

Pennzoil Gold says right on the bottle, over 50% Synthetic oil used. As for Motocraft it is 60% Synthetic group 3 and Group 2 Blend.

GPIII and GPII for MC? Considering the price point, I was under the impression it was a GPIII and GPI blend.

No GRP l. Is there even any name brand pcmo that uses GRP l anymore?

That some blends may contain up to 60% synthetic doesn't surprise me. However, I would really be interested in the percentage of syn in current dinos.

I'm not saying it uses group 1 as the majority basestock, but that they went with a GPIII + GPI blend to net a result similar to a pure GPII+ base stock, whilst giving them the opportunity to advertise it as a synthetic blend.
Given the price point this oil sells at, I don't really see how they could offer 60% GPIII and 40% GPII...not when conventional oils from competing brands are the same price or more.

Anyways, this oil performs well regardless of its base oil formulation. I've always just been a bit curious as to its composition...especially given its price.

I believe most Dino oils are a Group 2+
