6-month oil changes?

My wife only drove her car about 2200 miles over the first 6 months of owning her new car we got in October last year. 2024 kia seltos awd. We are under warranty and want to keep it so we'll be doing oil changes every 6 months like it calls for.
BMW calls for every year or 10k miles. I'll probably just change the oil in 3 months when the weather is nicer. Better safe than sorry.

Honestly, you could get away with that then. I just looked at the owners manual for my wife's 24 seltos. It actually calls for 8k miles or 12 months for "normal" driving. I may do that after the 2 free ones we get.

I don't drive the BMW as much as I used to since I drive the Camry to and from work. The BMW gets driven during the weekend. I put about 1500~ miles in 7 months. Changed the oil when the car had 36,500 miles on it. It's got about 37,850~ miles on it. I was going to change the oil today. But, kinda seems like a waste 😂.

Maybe I'll change it in 3 months. Hopefully, the oil doesn't go "bad".
I've had sports cars/collector cars for many years and follow a similar regimen. Most car manufacturers recommend 6 month oil change due to acids, etc. that are in the oil that can etch bearing surfaces. If it bothers you do an oil analysis next time and see what comes up. If you own a $50-60K fun machine, the cost of oil change is irrelevant by comparison. We have a Z3M (1999) in perfect condition and I've changed it twice a years since new. I sold my 2001 Z3 to a friend who has not had a single issue, and follows the same practice. So, why not? It seems better to keep it on the road, out of repair shop or junk yard.

I’ve been doing every 6 months regardless of mileage for a few years now. Even when mileage is low I see it as a good practice to check everything over. (FWIW pre RONA and 2023 it was 9-10k miles every 6 mo. During RONA and now I’m working from home and avg only 3-4k/6 mo)
