looking for filter recommendations all the powerstroke forums recommend are MC but im having a hard time locating some without ordering them online I can get baldwin and donaldson filters local any suggestions?

I was ordering MC from Amazon. But bought about 10 NAPA Platinum on a crazy sale. I have a bypass filter also, so the full flow filter does not need super duper filtering capabilities.

The Baldwin has been good filter in my experience. It's what I put on my dad's 6.7, silicone anti drainback valve and I think it's a wire backed synthetic media from what I remember. So it shouldn't deform like the motorcraft does.

Which of these two has the higher efficiency rating numbers?

The Wix offering has some fantastic beta values for this application:
#57151 shows this: 2/20/75=3/12/17
50% at 3um!
95% at 12um
absolute at 17um

Who needs a BP filter when you're 50% at 3um???

The Donaldson is rated at 99% at 15 microns, it has synthetic media just like the DBL line of filters. Can't go wrong with either the Donaldson, Wix or Baldwin on most applications in general.

I'd say that equates to around the 95% @ 12u.

dnewton - yeah, those are pretty impressive efficiency numbers for a spin-on.

No such animal that I can find in Fram's offering for the 6.7L PSD. They do have the PH10890; $22 at WM.

The filters for the PSD are not cheap; the Wix is $33 retail at ORs, but it's a heck of a filter!

FRAM does not make an Ultra for the 6.7L PSD.

dang the wix seems pretty good should I have gone with it over the Donaldson? Unfortunately Ive already ordered 2 of the Donaldsons but if the wix is a better filter Ill switch to them next.

Don't sweat it; the Donaldson is a fine filter. Use them with confidence. If you choose later on, then look at the Wix.
The disparity between them isn't enough to worry about.

Really? That's odd, I figured such a common filter would have an Ultra option! I think they offer them for just about all other diesel pickups so they need to get with the program! I wouldn't balk at running a orange can on it either, I ran one on my 7.3 for years without problems before I sold it.
