I have left over 5w40 Rotella T-Syn, would I be fine using this in my Scion tC?

I'm pretty sure you guys are going to say it wont do anything but just making sure

I agree, just slightly lower gas mileage and the engine will feel more sluggish.

If you go back to 5w30 in the future, simply lower the tire pressure 3 psi below recommended and the vehicle will feel much the same as if you had 5W-40.

I think it depends on how much power the car has (BTW I have no idea what a Scion tC is or looks like). If it is low powered and you have to wind the engine a lot, then it will seem more sluggish as the friction from the thicker oil will bleed off some additional power.

scion=toyota inards, wrapped in funky/hip bodystyles.

i've been reading about how lots of new toyotas, and VWs, are "prone" to sludgind... I'd imagine, if the scion uses the same engine as the toy, it may also be in this category- uh..mainly just bringing this possability to the attention of anyone who might be able to confirm this situation, so that our scion owner can make better choices about oil and OCIs. Not sure if this engine is in the category or not.

I'm doing the 5000 mile OCI, my oil analysis is good and I see no sludge at all nor feel anything.

I think you will find that the majority of Toyota sludge prone motors are built within a limited year range and motor type. Early 2000's I think. I don't this applies to the new motors and generally was due to incorrect maintenance and an engine design that didn't help.

Do a search of the board there is lots of info on sludge motors.
