Thats what I posted earlier. With that said, our Crown Vic 4.6 which currently has 243,519 miles and has always had 5w30,just like the owners manual called for,and with that many miles, with no oil related issues, how can a person argue with what oil weight is called for in a owners manual? It's simple,no need to re-invent the wheel or over think somethin so simple.
Thats encouraging that you have that many miles on your Crown Vic as i have 100k less on my GMQ. I did choose to go the TSB route and feed my 4.6 5w-20 flavor though. I don't think the 5w-20 will be any less effective in the end. Just good to know i have some miles left, hopefully.
Funny 5w20 was the "backspec'd" oil for our Crown Vic,I'm 100% sure it would've gone just as many miles, easily. These motors are built to last,so with you using 5w20,sleep well at night because you got yourself a good motor
Totally agree. The Ford modular is probably the best engine for passenger cars they ever made. I was a big fan of the 300 I-6 also.
