OEM's that do business in Europe typically specify a ACEA A5 motor oil that is capable of a 10,000 to 20,000 mile oil change. A 5000 mile severe service drain interval is way too conservative considering todays extended drain synthetic lubricants.

It seems that Valvoline 5w20 synthetic does in fact meet the
ACEA A5 extended drain specification but does not meet the BMW Long Life oil specification which requires a 0w40 or a 5w40 engine oil.

That's like saying, yes, the sky is blue. If BMW LL spec require minimum 3.5 cP, then duh, 5w-20 won't meet it!!! Does that mean 5w-20s can't do 10,000 mile drains like you said they can't??? NOPE.

Do any European manufacturers, specifically BMW, spec 5w-20? NOPE.

The word "fail" typically is used when something is specifically tested and doesn't pass, ie actually fails. Any given 5W-20 meets the claimed specifications and I can think of no examples of 5W-20 motor failing any mfr. claimed spec.

Extended drains is an extremely vague term. It could mean 4K or it could mean 40K miles.

Since your header consists on misnomers and misleading words, I can only conclude you are either ignorant or a troll. Which is it?

BTW I have seen examples of 5W-20 going 10-12K with no issue.
