5W-50 Too Heavy for Winter?

Just hit me. OP was asking about a 5w-50 for winter. What does he run in the summer? Probably some NGLI #6 grease. Talk about some oil pressure..... LOL

Seriously dude, run the factory recommended oil.

Why are you not using the oil the engine builder recommends then? They have more experience and data with their engines than anybody else does.

That, and perhaps poster didn't read that this is a built motor, so no - factory oil recommendations should NOT be followed - the engine builders recommendations, however, SHOULD be followed.
