Walmarts has a great deal on Valvoline conventional at $10 per 5 qt jug after rebate. Problem is they didn't have any 5w-20 so I bought Pennzoil conventional.

My Acura MDX calls for 5w-20. Any problem using 5w30? Thanks.

Depends on the year, and if you're in warranty. If there's still warranty, stick with the 5w-20. Otherwise the car won't likely know the difference.

5w-20. Think of the warranty. It's no use saving $10 on an oil change if Honda didn't assemble something correctly that pukes while you're running 5w30.

+1

If you have a receipt, you can return the 5W30 or sit it on the shelf until the warranty is over.

This can be the start of your oil stash so you fit in with the rest of us.

It is unlikely that running it will cause any problems other than slightly reduced fuel economy.

With the new GF-5 oils coming out, I would be very selective about stashing older oils.
Pennzoil Conventional is fantastic - I hope you got the new one with 40%, not 15% cleaning stated on it -it's the newer one. What's a few $ over the life of the car?

Yep! 40% on the first change! This is the first time in 40 years I have used anything other than Castrol. This is the first time I have gone longer than 3k on an OCI.

The guys over on my Acura forum are pretty strong about waiting for the MM but I just couldn't do it. Hope I didn't void my warranty. The owner's manual says to wait.

Come on,man. It's a brand new $35,000 car with a warranty...... and your shopping for cheaper, out of spec oil? Take it back and get some full priced Mobil 1 synthetic or Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic and an Mobil 1 oil filter. Take it to the dealer and pay 'em $20 for labor to document your changes while in warranty. That's what I do. It must be best. Lol. Nice car. Stay safe.
