5W-20 Mobil-1 High Millage??

OP, can you take a picture of the bottle and post it?

XOM's tech line got back to me and they said they do not offer Mobil 1 High Mileage in 5W-20 and have no plans to at this time.

If that is the case, I wonder if the bottle you found was some very old stock of a product that used to be offered?

Oh man, this is really freaking me out now. Im wondering if it was a misprint, and supposed to read 5w30? But Jam25 said they sell it at his place too? [censored]? Okay, if it is still there this evening, I`ll definitely get a pic.

There is no MSDS for it either, so I'm thinking it was something else or mislabeled. Testing demand for it in certain locations?

I believe ILSAC GF-5 dictates reduced amounts of ZDDP. (800 ppm) Not the api classification.

The only problem I see with using a 5W20 in high mileage cars (and I am talking +10years old) is the issue with leaking gaskets and seals. It seems like 5W20, HM or not, sips much easier through them. Of course, the "correct" action is to replace the old gaskets and seals, but sometimes this is not easy or just not worth it at all on such an old car. At this point, I would rather prefer to move the car to a 5W30 or HM 5W30. Just my 2c.

But M1 high mileage oil is thicker. Their 5w-20 HM would be very close to a 5w30 designation.

Yesterday, they emailed me and said that it did not. Would be interesting to see if their phone hotline says differently.

Agree. The only issue is that most HM 5w30s (M1, for example) are on the "thick" side of the 5w30 spec, so going that far on a car designed for 5w20 may leave some uncomfortable. A 5w20 HM may be just thick enough on its own or at least allow obsessive BITOG members like me the opportunity to do some HM blending.

I know, Im still kicking myself. But in the back of my mind I thought hey, looks like Mobil has a good product coming. (meaning I thought it was legit) Silly freakin Rabbit, Trix are for kid`s!
