This is the engine my dad and brother built for the '68 Nova.
It uses JE pistons and Eagle featherweight 6.25" rods.
The camshaft is a Howards A .675/.369 - 315*/322* solid roller. Heads are Dart Iron Eagle.
The crank shaft is a large journal steel 327 (3.25" stroke) and the block is a .040 400 (4.165 bore) prepped by Lunati, producin 354ci. The Tranny is an M22 Muncie and the rearend is a spooled 5.00:1 35 spline Ford 9".The car made 468 on the chassis dyno.

One sweet looking ride! Hood scoope is huge. Two tone paint job would make that look out of this world.

Is that a 67 Camaro in the background with your engine and tranny on a hoist? You are one lucky guy; I wish my dad and brother were hot rodders.

This is a google image photo not the same car.
It is a 1965-69 turbo monza Corvair that my brother will make a front engine V8 drag car out of. The 65-69 Corvair was a carbon copy of a 1st gen Camaro before the Camaro was ever built.

What is your choice for oil? Does this run pump 94 octane , or do you use Rocket racing gas? What is the best times you have run? That is one great looking Machine! FWIW--Oldtommy

Thanks for sharing. Why did you use a Ford rear in a GM vehicle? Just asking, I know nothing about this stuff..

I feel the same.Chopping up,gutting out, making Frankenstein cars.Destroying already rare cars and then they're not worth anything in the end when they're crashed or junked.

Guess it just depends on weather and track prep.

They haven't run it yet, the season starts in April.

Every drag racer likes that Ford rear gear. Indestructible.

Do they run 1/8, or 1/4 mile with it?

What compression ratio?

Those are good numbers for rwh. Nice.

They run 1/4 mile but will be coming to coosbay speedway 1/8th mile this year.

I do not know the compression ratio but they are flat tops with very small chambers. I would guess 11:1.

Even a fair number of road racers who are required by rules to keep a solid rear axle use the Olue Oval designed 9" axle.
It is easier to change the ring & pinion, they can be built very light with the right components, there is a BIG choice of ratios AND limited slip diffs for them, and YES they are pretty much indestructible!!

This is/was the axle under every SCCA Trans Am/GT-1 class road racing car.

The 9" is strong, but hardly indestructible...seen them break.

The toughest OE axle was used by Chrysler: the Dana 60!
