interesting thread... Since this guy has a friend named HTSS with over 9000 posts... let him do it... could save him a bunch and learn something.
FYI seen the MB service deal in action... lady on my route... 40 miles from dealer... she has an older MB... one day she had one of those MB sitting there that looked like it was doing 160 on the autobaun... she said "loaner for my service" Shes about 90... this thing looked James bond...

Actually this is from real world experience with our fleet trucks.

Two different motors I've had apart revealed a thin but interesting layer of slimy sludgy stuff on the bottom of the pan. Note these are high mileage motors with OCI's based on the OLM.

This led to discarding all the Fumoto valves on the fleet due to the way they slowed down the draining and flushing action. I've not yet had another failure but I will, and then I'll see what's up.

My dad has a '09 GL450 with 4Matic. It does have a drain bolt, but like others mentioned it is much easier to suck out the oil. Its a decent car, but the maintenance is very expensive. The run flat tires last about 20-25k miles at most. He just had to replace a folding mirror since the wiring for the blinker light on the mirror went out, which caused the turn signals on the dash to blink fast. It was a $750 repair. The other side stopped working but luckily it was only the LED strip not the wiring, so only a $300 fix. I think he spent max $750 for repairs on his previous 1999 Grand Cherokee.

He sold the Grand Cherokee with 180k miles. The M-Benz SUV currently has 81k miles. We shall see how long it lasts, since my dad keeps vehicles until they fall apart. The Grand Cherokee was still in decent shape, but we needed something with 7 passenger seating.
