3.4 gm engine and fram air filter

I recently changed out my friends air filter.
He bought fram,and the filter doesn't seem to fit perfectly in the air box.
Anyone have the same engine?
The air box has tabs on one end,and screws on the other.
There is no noticeable air leak and the engine light is not on,but I can see the gasket on the tabbed end of the air box.

Get a box cutter and trim.

Wix, Fram , STP and Purolater do make a few air filters that do not always fit 100%.

Yeah the STP for my 3.1 Buick never fits quite right. The Fram and Wix fit like a glove though.

Terrible design for the airbox.
Never noticed the tabs,always thought the air boxes had screws at all 4 corners.
