I use 20w-50 in my '65 Corvair during the summer months (Delo 15W-40 the rest of the year). I've been kicking around the idea of trying Lucas in it this summer, but at $6 a quart, I hate leaving half of it on the driveway!

I'll probably use MaxLife for my summer change and probably keep a couple of quarts of SuperTech for topping off.

If you have a vehicle like that where even 20W50 is burning off, instead of Lucas, go to Big Lots. They have a Marvel Mystery Oil and CD-2 version for $2.50 per quart.

Quite a few LS1/LS2 guys use it. Really do not see a down side to their performance. Amsoil seems to be the 20-50 of choice in the crowds I run with. Many of these motors I mentioned above are built or utilize forced induction or large shots of giggle juice. The 20-50's seem to handle fuel dilution very well.............

I'm using Valvoline VR1 20W-50 in my '89 Porsche 3.2 Carrera. Car only has 15K miles on it so its still like new. With all the latest thoughts and Porsche's own recomendation I'm thinking of going to a Porsche approved 5W-40 Synthetic (PP 5W-40 Euro?) at my next OC.

In my '95 BMW M3 I've used M1 15W-50 since new. Car has 70K miles now and I just did an OC and put in some Castrol Syntec 5W-40 BC. We'll see how that works.

Still using 20W-50 M1 motorcycle V-twin oil in my '06 Buell.

Most S4-S5 Mazda RX7 owners run 20w50 year round in their vehicles. I personally prefer 10w40 in mine but 20w50 is recommended in summer months.

This was commonly specified for European makes in the US market at least into the 1980s, and sometime beyond. My 1967 Jaguar calls for it, though I have been running 15W-40 instead, but I might go back to 20W-50 for the old Jag.

My BMW e34 calls for dino 20w50. Iv'e tried synthetic 20w50,15w50,15w40,10w40,0w40 and 0w30. I never did UOA on dino 20w50 but its a wee bit thick for PA winters. I have, however, found that syn. 0w30 and 0w40 yeild the best UOA numbers.

1988 Volkswagen Jetta, 1.8 SOHC, got Castrol GTX 20w-50 from the time I owned it, regardless of season. Bought it for $1400 with 187,000 miles, and sold it for $500 with 326,000 still running like a top! Kind of glad I got rid of it before I found this site, probably would have moved it to 0w-40 and wasted a lot of money on the old girl!

20W50 is a bit thin for a lot of cars. Risking engine damage using it IMO.

I was waiting for reference to a Sheila oil or something like that.

You probably use something more manly like 20W70, right?

Lots of Harley's and BMW motorcycles use it. Using Maxlife blend 20w-50 at the present time in the BMW(47K). Hope that dose of PAO is doing some cleaning.

PAO does not clean, rather it has quite poor solvency.

I like 50 weights when hot. All the feedback from big compines like Comps and Crane have all told me they see great running life out of their gear with 20w 50s'.

I have been wondering if a 10w 50 would still give me all that I like from a 50 or would the strech from 10w to 50 be to long compared from 20w 50?
