Falfa and Milner cars... The other movie cars were further down... Not the movie cars, AFAIK.

Looks like John Milner's street rod there in the first pix. Were Steve, Laurie and Toad wandering around in the crowd?
On that short connector block are all the cars, from the Citroen, Toad's 58 Impala, Suzanne Sommer's '56 T-Bird, Falfa's '55 150 and Milner's 32 5 Window. Again, not the original cars but really close.

Petaluma is a motor head's paradise, from as-new Pan Head Harleys to 50's Pickups and and kinds of sedans. American Graffiti was filmed, to a large part, here.

The wheels on a number of them - yuck!

Excessively chromed early 2000s wheels have absolutely no place. I’m sure those cars are the apparent model in nameplate only, not in drivetrain, but that’s a shame in its own right.

All the same, great photos, neat cars, thanks for sharing some classics!

I recall reading there was not a lot of work done to chose the Milner car. Apparently they just went out a bought a hot rod for the filming. It turned out to be a Ford coupe with a 350 Chevy.
Correction. It’s believed the engine was a 327. Some accounts even had it a a 283, although the owner would have been a nut case not to drop in the 327 instead. With the light weight of the deuce coupe, a 327 shifted at 6,000 could have been a serious contender.
