2024 Silverado EV - Revealed

Yeah the cutoff is actually 6,000lbs, but it’s why you’re seeing so many businesses start to use larger EVs. There’s no incentive to get stuff like that under 6k because of the business tax credit.

The Cybertruck advertises it right on the website and even has a checkbox to apply the savings directly to the purchase just like the standard EV tax credit.

Thats where I saw it, I knew it was someplace between GM and Tesla sites. :)

Silverado holds 300kW through 50%. Cybertruck is way down to about 125kW at 50%

Tesla's charging speed hasn't been their strong suit. Either they know something we don't, the batteries/hardware aren't strong enough, or they're overly cautious. I think it's heavily the last one and possibly a bit of the second. They may need to go back to the drawing board to compete. 150kW tapering quickly to 50% is common almost across the board for Tesla.

To be honest as good as range tests on the base Model 3 Long Range have been going, I'm strongly considering buying one of those over anything else on the market including the Performance despite the charging. 380+ miles backed up by two 70mph range tests is nuts. I know this is about trucks but I've said for awhile that I think the Model 3 is probably the best all around EV on the market. Even I'm surprised by the results repeatedly beating EPA estimates.

484 miles in Edmund’s EV range test for the RST w/Max Range battery. And the 8WT Work Truck trim is rated at 42 miles more than this version.

That is Great for a truck. I did pull a snip from the post.

"It's the longest-range truck, but ...
Look, if you only care about having the electric pickup truck with the longest driving range, then get the Silverado EV. But for our money — especially considering this RST First Edition's $96,495 as-tested price — there are better buys out there, like a Ford F-150 Lightning or the slightly smaller Rivian R1T."

I really love that every manufacturer is starting to beat EPA numbers. It’s great to see more in the tank so to speak than advertised. GM also has been repeatedly giving more useable battery in delivered cars than advertised. That’s awesome.

Right, MPG has been a GM priority for many years & it's nice to see them extending that to EV applications. That's a lot of dough though. 😄

2026 Order Guide is out.

Adds a ton of trims and 2 new batteries. 3WT gets a new “Standard Range+ LFP” battery (fleet only). 4WT and 2LT get the new “Standard Range” 14-module (~120kWh) battery, which is based on the bigger battery architecture.

Trail Boss trims added. RST trim appears to be gone.

Someone posted this on the Silverado EV forums. Not sure if legit.

This is going like the Bolt.

Five years on, people realize it's an amazing vehicle and they start selling like hotcakes.

Base curb weight of the 2026 Silverado EV 4WT “Standard Range” (~120kWh) is 7,403 lbs. Interesting to see the weight with a closer battery size to other EV trucks.

It's still heavy, but the big battery F150 is 131kWh and 6,855 lbs. The Cybertruck is 122kWh and 6,843 lbs. I don't think the Silverado is going to win the light weight award for battery size.

I think this is the best possible chance for an EV truck to truly push the market if the price doesn't hurt it in the process. Still not sure I like the idea of people driving 9,000 lb people haulers though.

The full 2026 Build site is up. Starts at $55k for 286 miles. I think the Trail Boss in White Sands looks best. 410 mile or 478 mile battery options on Trail Boss. Longest range is 493 EPA miles on a Max Range WT trim.

I also see the LFP Standard+ Range is delayed until 2027 model year…
