I’m not a fan of the Olympic committee. They filed a lawsuit against Olympic Provisions here in Portland for using the name “Olympic”. They had to change it to Olympia. They chose the name because they worked out of the Olympic Cereal Mill building that was built in 1906.

But that's what the French do, this is very "culturally normal" for them. Remember the Charlie Hebdo affair? Nobody and nothing is above criticism and mockery in French culture, which has created some considerable conflict with non-French people at times.

French are known for that, but did it have to be done at the Olympics opening ceremony? Other countries use this opportunity to promote their culture and heritage, but the French chose this clown show. Is that what the French want as the main takeaway here, clowns that mock others?

I am ignorant when it comes to French culture, but the Olympics are supposed to bring people together. The opening ceremony of the Olympics just isn’t the place to be mocking anyone or their beliefs. In the spirit of the games, it was distasteful and disrespectful.

I was disappointed to hear they aren’t including baseball or softball this year. I’ve actually never watched the Olympics before and I actually would have if baseball or softball was in it. I have Peacock already and have seen lots of things about the Olympics but I don’t think I’d be entertained without baseball.

They included religious themes, and political points are being made. Neither are acceptable here.

Hats off to the French and Spaniards. They are the only western countries where the civilian populations will revolt against tyrannic politicians.
