Yeah I had 2450 miles towing 7K TT early in this OCI and I have been running Archoil fuel treatment at the performance dose 2 oz per 10 gal. I don’t know if the Archoil had any effect on the Potassium but I have read about it being in the flux in the various coolers. First UOA Ive ever done, but was trying to get a baseline for future OCI length. Most likely still working it's way towards "Broken in" & things will settle down. You'll know more which way it's headed in your future UOA. I think everything is how you'd expect. Silicon is low, viscosity held up well. I'll assume you did some towing with this sample?
Probably just buttering me up since I’m new to the game.Side bar, I sent four samples to OAI/Polaris that were received and scanned by the lab on 9-25, no results yet. I'm surprised you already received yours.
The truck isn’t losing any coolant and I don’t use any kind of oil additive. I’ve been using the Archoil to help with the passive regens and it seems to help with that. It’s pretty common for these trucks to struggle with regen issues during hot weather and the short tripping that mine goes through when not towing. 15 miles to town and 15 back but interstate most of it. The report still shows a TBN of 7 with good viscosity, no fuel and low soot so Im going to shoot for 8K for next OCI and resample to see how it’s progressing. Thanks for the reply.I compared your numbers to my blackstone 5w40 VPBE averages which are based off of an average 7,900 miles. I personally don’t think it’s coolant. Boron, chromium, phosphorus and silicon can all be associated with coolant as well. These numbers don’t look bad. I would suspect its your fuel additive. I recall reading a forum post about high potassium and boron levels associated with a fuel additive. Would you be willing to hold off on the additive and resample in 6k miles? I am no expert but that’s my opinion. I personally do not use a fuel additive; although, I may use the white bottle power service if it gets real cold this winter.
I drive about 45 miles, round trip, for work each day. 65-70% is highway but the rest is city traffic, red lights, stop signs, prolonged idling in these situations, and sometimes slow highway traffic. I do not tow, yet, and I’ve put 5k miles on this truck in about 3 months. The weather this summer has been consistently 80-90 degrees. I’m able to get 700+ miles between active regens, sometimes less, with just highway cruising. I have had a few regens occur with shorter intervals but that seemingly correlated with the fuel I was using. My truck seems to passive regen very well without fuel additives; just food for thought. We finally got some cooler weather (highs in the mid 80’s lows in the 50’s) so last fuel I bought I didn’t add the Archoil and it seems to be doing ok. Haven’t noticed any difference in EGT’s with and without. I also got fuel in a different location.I drive about 45 miles, round trip, for work each day. 65-70% is highway but the rest is city traffic, red lights, stop signs, prolonged idling in these situations, and sometimes slow highway traffic. Sounds promising, thanks for the update. I always like to hear other owners regen frequency etc.We finally got some cooler weather (highs in the mid 80’s lows in the 50’s) so last fuel I bought I didn’t add the Archoil and it seems to be doing ok.
