Silicon, Sodium, & Copper are slightly elevated but that is typical of a new engine and they are still good numbers. Sometimes I see really high but your mazda seems to have it's composure in order. How are you liking it so far? Was your STP filter made by premium Guard?

So far I like the car really well. The numbers fell right in line for what I was looking for on an engine breaking in. The STP filter is what I put on a week back. This OCA was running a Mazda factory filter. The New filter is a STP Premium Guard S66007XL.

Thanks for the good information & happy to hear of your success. Though please remedy my confusion in your title. You say first oci but your uoa shows 4068 Miles on a 8999 mile CX-5. You've not changed the oil yet until now?

No the first oil change was at 4911 miles. I do my oil changes in October and April on a sunny day I leave those rainy, snowing and freezing oil changes to the young guys like my Grandson. I'll be 80 March 1st. The Mazada appears to be using no oil between changes or adding no oil so I guess I don't have a fuel dilution problem.

Congrats on making it to 80! I'm half your age so I still end up wrestling around with stuff when it's least convenient ha ha. Your clarification on that oil change has cleared up my confusion. 8.3 Visc. is pretty good for a 20 grade so you're right there may not be much fuel dilution taking place. If you want to test for fuel on the cheap try your local CAT kits.

Those are great months for oil changes. :) I did some weather research awhile back and April 20 and October 20 are exactly 6 months apart with almost identical mild weather. Those are the dates I shoot for on my oil changes.

Boy I checked for one of those CAT Kits the cheapest was $49 and change you have a URL for me?

Hmmmm 🤔 I must be the only random one who gets under the car during a mild tropical storm with dirty bumper water dripping on my face because the odometer shows a bunch of zeros (say… 130,001 miles) and my OCD triggered that it’s THE PERFECT round Mileage to write down on my UOA slip.

💪🏻😎👍🏼

Hmmm I just document it in the owners manual. But say doesn't your method extend engine life?

That's crazy expensive!! I've been using Wheeler CAT. Granted I didn't buy my UOA kits directly from them but have gotten some other quotes on other things & they seemed reasonable. Give them a buzz & ask about their SOS1 oil Analysis kits for you to buy. If you wanted a particle count on each one the part number is SOS1PC I think. Let me know what they say as I'm curious too.
