2022 Honda civic spark plugs

How do you go about testing them

Find the service manual online if possible, or check out a Civic or Honda forum. They will have a resistance spec. Use a multimeter to measure it. If the resistance is out of spec, or if there is no continuity at all, then the coil is bad.

If the engine calls for Iridiums, I too am curious as to why you replaced them at 50K. Iridiums last much longer than that. Depending on driving conditions, their good for 100-150K, if not more. Too bad you threw out the originals, I would have just cleaned them up a bit and re-installed them. Then go back to the store and try to get a refund on the ones they sold you.
Not always, iridiums on my Element are only 40k mile plugs. Found out at ~44k on them when the started misfiring.

Also keep in mind that there are 2 different kinds of iridium plugs.

The OE type, such as NGK Laser Iridium, Denso Iridium Long Life, and Denso Iridium TT have iridium center electrodes and a platinum ground. These are usually good for at least 100k unless it's DI (which your Element isn't)

Another type, such as NGK Iridium IX and Denso Iridum Power, still have iridium center electrodes, but the ground is nickel. These only last 40-50k :sneaky:

And now, there's ruthenium. The NGK Ruthenium HX uses ruthenium center electrode and platinum ground.

I was looking for plugs a while back, somewhat older Chevy truck. When I cross-referenced plugs, newer & better options came up. What I’m getting it, not sure it’s always best to blindly go with original, OEM plugs. Not that they would be a wrong or bad choice, I just like to check options first.
