Saw one of these in the wild for the first time last week, ironically in the same color. The amazing thing, my wife noticed it "What's that?"

I'll sum up my thoughts.. would be a great car at
$25k-$28k

Better options at 40-45k

Funny, as the latest issue of Car and Driver (drivel?) is an almost “all EV” issue from front to back, starting with the editor telling us to adopt the “……..how I learned to stop hating EVs and learned to live with it…..” rattitude.

Two immediate takeaways from one of the articles is the fact that the insurance premiums won’t be lower than your gas powered vehicles and, in fact, will be noticeably higher.

The other takeaway was the fact that the rate of depreciation for EVs is higher over the first three years than comparable gas powered vehicles.

IMO EV's cater to the "throwaway culture" that a lot of people have with regards to their smartphones and other electronics. Does not bode well for services which rely on automaker support or other entities. For example I've lost traffic guidance on my vehicles NAV system due to the sun setting of 3G.

For 45K there are plenty of better options. 250 mile range, great I go see friends and when I am almost there I can stick the plug where the sun don't shine. 45K to be fashionable IMO.
C'mon Trav, everyones doing it....why aren't you?!

:sneaky:

?

If you're regularly driving over 250 miles to see friends, an all electric EV isn't for you. That's also pretty different than the average usage pattern for most people.

What are folks so quick to denigrate something just because it doesn't fit their needs--particularly when their needs are out of the ordinary?

Cheaper to run, cheaper to maintain, quieter, way more torque, and probably better resale than a used Tiguan. It doesn't look bad to me.
