I'm starting to think the people that said the 2.7 is better engineered than the 3.5 were right. What a great looking analysis for such a young engine.

Gen 2 motors definitely have improvements over gen 1 (3.5). I’m not sure when Ford started the 2.7, but it was considerably later than 2010 (give or take), wasn’t it?. So yeah, there were older 3.5’s that were not as well-sorted as later EB v6’s, regardless of size.

2015 was the first year for the 2.7.

I wish my Ranger had the option of the 2.7! No complaints with the 2.3L and the FP tune though. 315HP/370FTLB isn't bad.
