12k miles on the unit. definitely not as nice as the 5.3L silverado i ran to 12k but not terrible either. the air filter was incredibly loaded on this truck and i believe that could have had an impact.

Pretty good results overall. Wear is good. Strong TBN (from all the Mg).

The only thing I keep noticing with HPL is the virgin to used oxidation value. It jumps more than most other oils.

Virgin oxidation value is 23. It's now 58. Does it matter? No one seems to know. I did run a previous HPL UOA by someone who is well versed in UOA's and he thought the oil was shot due to the high oxidation value. But with no jump in wear metals and only minor increase in viscosity, I'm not convinced.

Any chance varnish components contain oxygen?

Not that I'm aware of. I like to see consecutive runs to establish a trend. HPL is said to have high solvency so it's possible the first run could be cleaning up, assuming it was dirty to begin with.

If the oxidation value jumped 35 pts but viscosity only jumped to 12.2 cSt from 10.72 I don't think it's an issue.

My guess is it's just a characteristic of the group V base oil for unknown reason.

If you ignore the oxidation value, this report is really good.

Good run 👍 By a lot of labs standards that oxidation level would be right at point or slightly past the <25 increase it would be flagged as done. Also perhaps HPL is using better base oils that oxidize more. Interesting to see these results. I think it looks good overall.
