Good Night folks. Mom called said needs rear brakes. I told her I can get ORM thrunwork with big discount. It’s AWD, and 2019 GLK 400 SUV. It has electronic park brake. I’ll get new wear sensor more than likely too.

Thank You

Money isn’t issue since they are very very well off. Just heads up

While there is nothing wrong with OEM except for heavy dusting, Akebono Euro pads are the gold standard in aftermarket pads.

Pair them with any Geomet coated rotors, such as Powerstop, Zimmermann, Pagid, or Bosch Quietcast. Geomet is the best coating to stop the rust.

EBC has a good kit with the Ultimax2 pads (Blackstuff) along with their plain rotors, which now use a Geomet type coating as well.

Gold standard in what? Making good brakes a mediocre one?

All these are OEM (ATE is maker of OE):

Good to know sir. Thank Youbagain. At work we go OEM as we have tons of MB and BMW’s.

Mom isn’t picky. I did her front brakes at 87k and used OEM. No complaints ever. Moms pretty easy driver also.
I currently have Jurid on my BMW. I would say just bit less aggressive than OE.

Akebono Euro is a great choice for people seeking quality brake pads without crazy amounts of dust :)
What is quality? Not braking in half while braking? Yes, they are from that standpoint high quality product.
From performance standpoint they are garbage. Absolute garbage!
So, why going than Mercedes at all? On Lexus mediocre brakes are standard. When Lexus upgrades brakes on F models, it usually goes Textar (TMD) or ATE, for a reason.
I think there is a reason why people buy cars like Mercedes, and brakes are one of those reasons.

Yep, all this. Have done a few brake jobs for folks who insisted on using the Akebono Euros on their VW, BMW, Audis because they wanted "less dust" and still have the Euro feel to the brakes. Each time I say ok, but you DO get less. Less dust, bite, stopping power, feel, modulation etc. After a few hundred miles, it's strange that everyone comes back and asks for something better.

For mom, OE Merc is perfect. Most Euro OEs work with the major Euro brake manufacturers to formulate friction material to produce the best performance with least amount of drawbacks as possible. Plenty of times, I've had the best performance from an OE pad as far as initial bite, noise, dust, wear, and feel. All were made by Ate, Pagid, Jurid, Textar etc., however, if looking for a better performing pad from a pure stopping POV, I would take a semi-metallic offering from any of those and wash the wheels more often 😁.

OEM. Keep in mind Mercedes has two lines now - the regular “warranty” which will be made in Europe by Pagid/Textar, Jurid or Ferodo and their cheaper StarParts line. The StarParts pads are made in India by MAT Holdings(Dan-Blok) - the same company who makes Carquest Blue/Platinum for AAP and most of the Duralast(Elite and some Gold SKUs are Bosch Mexico) and BrakeBest Select lines. I’d probably gamble with Duralast(or aftermarket ATE/Hella Pagid/Wagner) over StarParts pads. For rotors, OEM, ATE or Zimmermann.

Akebono only belongs on Japanese/Korean or “American” cars. GM is using Akebono or Mando brakes now. While Ford, Subaru and Honda are using ATE or TRW calipers, the pads are from Akebono or NBK - they specify organic pads instead of Euro low-metallic pads.
