2016 to 2020 Ford Explorer 4 cylinder

I forget the original poster of this, but he shared this with me on this board - its the eco-boost engines that had the head gasket failure issues. I think from this you can infer that a) the 2.0 never made it into the Explorer, and b) you would not want one if it did.

Did the 2.3 have the same gasket / lack of cross drill issue?

Posting # 6 is a cut and paste from Car and Driver. According to them, the Explorer had a 2.0 at one time, but the uptake was very small. Doesn’t matter anyway. :)

Your correct in that it likely does not matter, but I would think if they did build them it would have made it into the tech bulletin?

Its possible it was an option that was never built. I have seen that before, although never with something as significant as an engine.
