Agreed. Even if the cost is a few dollars more, it is worth it to me not to have to worry about a filter that could fail due to weak media or some such. According to ZeeOSix's post, the efficiency on the WIX/Clarcor is excellent.

It does have outstanding efficiency numbers per the advertised WIX beta ratios.

I'm thinking WIX must make their HD filters for diesel applications much more efficient than their passenger car filter line.

Rock Auto? I grabbed several of them a few months ago and they are far and away better than the MCs (even at the same cost), but they were all $4 each and were not "old" filters. One of them (a CQ 84151 made by Clarcor) has a dent in it and I cut it open to see the construction and it was very heavy duty.

Well...it is a diesel.

5K is a normal OCI (for me; I have been using some B20 diesel) and it was convenient to change it yesterday, thus the slightly shorter OCI.

I was just curious since it calls for 7500-10,000 miles for "Normal", 5,000-7,499 miles as "Severe", and 3,000-4,999 miles as "Extreme".

Didn't know if you were in the severe range or not.

This is not the recommended oil change interval, but when to expect the iOLM to indicate an oil change is required. Mine has been going off between 5,500 and 6,500 for the last two OCIs. Yes, I could go to those ranges, but sometimes convenience dictates when I need to change it.

Ahh, makes sense. I figured you'd stretch it out since you did with your F150, but since this one is under warranty I can see why you keep it short.

Diesels are not the same (unfortunately), I have a bypass system to install (at some point in the future) that may allow for some extended OCIs, but I have been seeing some fuel dilution so for now I will keep it in the 5K range. If the fuel dilution continues, the only "cure" is to change the oil. I installed a synblend this time and will see how it does versus the T6/Delo 400 LE synthetic.
