2014 Mustang GT: Oil level low message.

I was driving the Mustang yesterday and just happened to see a message in the message center that said "Oil Level Low, check oil"

I pulled over and checked the oil and it was full and I didn't see any oil leaks anywhere. This oil change only has about 1,500 miles on it. When I started the car up to leave, the message was gone and it didn't come back all the way home.

Today I checked the battery with my machine and it said the battery was still good. I'm still running the original battery which is a little over five years old. I didn't know if a bad or low battery would cause this message to come on.

Anyone else have any ideas what could cause this message to come on when the oil level is fine?

Probably has a bad oil level sensor. My BMW had the same issue. In the BMW's case, the sensor is on the oil pan and easy to replace while doing an oil change.

As long as it works when you really need it and the FALSE are far between, it's an easy IGNORE - but a good time to read up about the unit's possible repair and part cost and availability

It could be the sensor, BL3Z-6C624-A is the p/n. We hardly ever sell them, actually I have no movement on that number at all.

Thanks for the info and that part #. I will keep an eye on the message center to see if it shows up again. The car only has around 28,600 miles on it but the 3/36 warranty is gone and the 5/60 drive train warranty ends next month.

I'm pretty anal about my vehicles and hate having anything wrong so I will have to get it fixed even if I know that my oil level is fine.

Driver's side of the oil pan about halfway between the bottom and the rail and looks like almost in line with the dipstick.

It is the part highlighted in green. The note says the o-ring seal comes with it.

Ok, thanks. I looked the part up and it's not expensive so I guess I will pick one up for when I change the oil again. Thanks again for the info.

Anytime, sorry the picture wasn't better. I can email them, but it is a pdf so I just took a picture with my phone, emailed it to myself and uploaded it here.

I checked the shop manual and can't find a torque spec, but I seem to remember the head being plastic so it can't be much.

The picture was fine. It was clear enough to see what I needed. Thanks for the part #. I looked it up and it does indeed look plastic. I usually just snug those type of things up.
