Hi, This is my first UOA for my 2014 Mazda 3 GT from the first oil change. USE: Daily driver, pretty much all short city trips except for about 1500km of highway for a few road trips. I have a really short (~7km drive to work) and when it's cold I do let the engine warm up for a minute while I'm brushing snow or whatever. Sample was taken by the dealer (about 15 minutes drive away) and stored at home for about 2 weeks until the kit from blackstone arrived in the mail. COMMENTS: You were right about the moly. A reading of 572 ppm is a lot of molybdenum additive compared to most oils. It's a harmless antiwear additive, but we don't really see a benefit from having more or less in use. The high metals and silicon in this sample are just residual from wear-in, and everything should start to resemble universal averages (based on about 10,700 km) after a few more oil changes. The TBN was 3.8. Running 11,000 kilometers would be fine next time. The viscosity at 40º C was 28.87 cSt. LAB: Blackstone
I'm new to this whole oil analysis but it looks like the Flashpoint is a bit low and possibly the cSt Viscosity @ 100°C. The VOA seems to be kindly provided in http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/2781625/1 Any comments, thoughts, advice would be appreciated.
