For those who came in late, one year ago I bought a CPO 2014 M235i with 15,300 miles on the clock. So; how do I like after the new has worn off?
Short answer: A LOT.

It's proven to be the perfect car for me. I've even grown to like the voice activation and navigation- features I wouldn't have bought if I had ordered it. I've since driven an M2 and an M3 with the dual clutch 7 speed gearbox and-heresy alert-I prefer my car's 8 speed ZF automatic; it's about just perfect. What I like most about the car is its ability to be driven sedately in traffic or on long internet slogs- yet still be relatively track capable by just switching it into "Sport+" mode.

As far as reliability goes, the only black mark has been a dead auxiliary cooling fan at 21,000 miles. The brakes and tires look to have at least another 3,000-4,000 miles of life left. Apart from that the car still looks new inside and out. The only money I've spent on service has been for a coolant flush and a brake fluid change prior to its first weekend on the track. It has used no oil. Fuel economy is decent- 25-27 mpg in suburban driving, 30-32 mpg on the interstate.

Dislikes?
Lack of a limited slip. At about half throttle or more traction is an issue through the first three gears. I'll probably bite the bullet and get the M Performance unit installed this year. Instrumentation is also minimal. I may add an oil temperature gauge or at the minimum a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle and a supporting iOS app. Aside from that I have no complaints.

To sum up, I expect that this car will remain in my garage for many years to come.

I am glad you are loving the car. I personally am very fond of the way BMW's drive however several family members have had electrical issues when owning one long-term. Repairs were very pricey hence I will not be owning one anytime soon.

I even like my X1 s28i's traction control which is like posi-trat.

When i turn off traction, left wheel spins wildly, but with it on car feels like it squats and goes.

I ordered mine with M sport, and staggered wheels on Pirelli P7 summer tires.

Make sure you get some summer rubber like Michelin PSS, and maybe you'll get more traction.

I'm not a fan of BMW gauges. I just use a Scangauge II for real water temp, battery voltage, real mph, and several mpg parameters.

Lately I've been spending a lot of time obsessing over the newest version of this car, the M240i. I haven't driven one but it sounds like a ton of fun! If I were to get one I'd have to go for the X-drive version though. I love the idea of having a fast pocket rocket that can't be stopped no matter how much snow might fall in my area

What is the aftermarket like for these cars? I'm just wondering how easy it might be to increase the amount of boost from the turbo? Even just a 2 or 3 psi increase might be good enough for an extra seat of the pants improvement.

A tune gets you nearly 400hp, with bolt-ons getting you close to 500.

The Grand Tour seemed to like it - I see a few of them in my neck of the woods. I haven't been in one yet.

I'd be completely happy with 400hp, considering a stock M240i can do 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, that extra 65hp should push it into the 3.9 range. Fun!!

Right now the JB4 "Beta" tune gets you 379 at the rear wheels. They're working on an E85 tune now, and you can upload custom tunes if you go mild bolt-ons. Water-meth injection would be my first step.

The x35i and now x40i cars are capable of making some SERIOUS power with a little effort. Of course the ///M cars even more so, now that they're forced induction as well.

Check out what the ///M5 guys are trapping... 140+ in the ¼ and 170+ I'm the ½!!!
