Hello fellow lubricating friends. I got a new Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track at the end of last May and currently have about 3400 miles on it.

I live in Knoxville, TN. It gets pretty hot through the summer - Upper 90s to mid 100s were common this year. It doesn't get terribly cold. Mid 20s are normally the coldest. If you want to see the normal highs/lows, you can see it here.

My daily work commute is 9 miles / 15 minutes. I like to drive a bit hard to have fun during the weekends. Not track level hard, though.

I don't have a preference over synth vs. non synth. Whatever is good. I don't care much about price as long is it isn't extremely expensive.

What would you recommend?

I think PP or PU are some of the best oils, easy to get (Walmart) and reasonably priced. At $22 to $27 a 5 QT jug you get excellent oil at a reasonable price. Assuming you can deal with the people at Walmart.

Follow the owners manual for viscosity. It should have a temp range as part of the viscosity chart.

Thanks Donald. Is PU the brand name? Or is that Pennzoil something?

I would try and get a UOA done because I haven't seen a UOA regarding fuel dilution on the 2013 hyundai DI engines. That's a great car you have on your hands though. I like using Valvoline Synpower or Durablend in my 2010 3.8 genesis coupe track, and it runs real smooth.

Yea, factory OEM's are really good, and someone said before that Hyundai can deny warranty if they aren't used. Not sure if they really will or not, but rather not take chances
