Until my 2013 civic with the same engine was wrecked last year I exclusively used 0w-30 Mobil 1 ESP and the engine loved it. Was pushing 315k miles without issue.
My Civic 1.8 ( r18a2 ) is from 2008 and since mileage 20000 is operated exclusively with mobil 1 0W40. The car currently has 503000 kilometres down and has actually always driven 20000 kilometres intervals. The engine looks like new inside. I mean that my engine has not changed in terms of tolerances, especially since even my r18a2 has already been released for 0W20.
I have a 2008 civic I purchased new. Before I took the car I talked with the service manager, asking if using a 30 grade would void the warranty of this car. He replied that this would not affect the warranty. My point is -- I've been using 30 and 40 grades. The car still runs like it's new. I am aware that others can't use my story for their vehicles' services for their cars. This and another I have is getting Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 and they drive like new.

Poke around here a while and I think you'll find it's probably the best OTS oil available in a W-30. Pour it in and forget about it it'll serve you well
