Add that to the list:
Poor 5 speed automatic transmissions, especially mated to a V6 for close to 5 years
V6's with cylendar deactivation that like to fail early
Poor corrosion resistance

So tell me how Hondas are "the best"? Sound like I've been saying since the 90's - overrated junk like everyone else.

No one in the thread said Honda was "the best."

If you're going to point fingers, point them at the company that produced the part.
Wrong. Point at Honda. It is dishonest to shift blame from Honda. And the owner does not care who is to blame. Just wants their one year old car fixed.

Honda is chose every part on a new Honda. Honda is to blame. Honda is responsible for a Honda under warranty.

Some posters would do anything to defend Honda. Many excuses are laughable. Some blame the owner, the driver, the sun, the moon, the Communists, whatever.

I'm sure Honda will replace it under warranty.

Seems the OP started the thread as more of "I don't like this car" then to actually ad anything useful. But hopefully we'll get a update.

I hear more people on here bashing honda than anywhere. Its really quite simple. Honda used to build some of the best average cars on the road. The gap has closed considerably. There is simply only so much new stuff you can do before the competition catches up. That being said honda makes great cars. They dont all have ac issues , rust issues ect. All of the older japanese car companies had some rust issues. Some people on here will say anything to bash honda the facts are theyre a well regarded brand because they generally build good stuff.
They have trouble spots like anyone but that does not make them this awful diseased mut some of you guys claim.

I own one of the older highly regarded Honda cars, a 94 Accord.
It is a great car, the problem with Honda today isn't that the quality has gone down...now around 1998 it started to, and was trending downward with them sourcing cheaper parts and such, however they have picked up their game in the past couple of years and things look better than they have since the late 90s.

What they do need to do is return to the engineering excellence that they had before, they should have NEVER removed the double wishbone suspension from the Accord, it really was a great aspect of the car, it allowed nimble accurate handling with a very nice ride. That is cutting a corner that should have never been done.

I dont disagree at all. But I will play devils advocate and say this. Honda did it to be cheaper and cut weight. Cutting weight helps fuel mileage. Big one is making it cheaper. When competing with companies like hyundai. Who can build a car for less money since they are a newer car company and have less retirment pensions to pay for among other things honda has to cut cost some. I like mc pherson set up for its simplicity but it does not always handle as well......

Let's see....I've read problems with AC/Rust/Transmission....and from that, some of ya'll bash Honda. Of all the ka-million cars that Honda has sold and are still on the road, wonder how many are trouble free. One thing I did learn is that Honda generally works with the customer, at least from my experience. Had the dreaded 5 speed auto/V6 trans. go out at 125K on the 02 Accord and wayyyyy out of warranty. Dealer agreed it was a non-recalled transmission problem and replaced the transmission for 500 dollars. Wonder how many other dealerships would have done that. I'm sure all of you can conger up problems you've had with still under warranty vehicles that were not Honda's. I'm also not on the band wagon that quality has gone down. I seriously doubt that Honda had a board meeting and said we're going to start building cheaper cars. I guess when your the best, everybody is gunning for you and run like [censored] to catch up to your standards as you've set the bar. I mean, at some point, exactly what can you do to be innovative? It's a car, not the starship Enterprise. It's kind of like today's music, it all sounds the same, junk.

You are exactly correct Schmoe and the Honda bashers either have a bad dealer, too high of expectations, or just plain bad luck.

I've had a lot of people tell me they wouldn't own a BMW....too much trouble, unreliable, too expensive to repair, etc, etc, etc yet, I've experienced none of that. I've got over 500k miles worth of BMW experience and I'll take a BMW over most of what is on the road today and I'm sure there's a LOT of Honda owners that feel the same way.

There was a lot of good advice given in here too....if the car is making noise when it's purchased, then once you sign the papers, you've purchased the noise too. Not too much anyone can really complain about there.

Finally a little sense brought to the table!! Thank you.

It was replaced, In Warranty but the AC is MUCH warmer now. I told them to keep it until it is fixed right. They are now suppose to do a vac and a recharge. It got down to only 55* running down the highway by the dealer. I brought it back and said Fix the SOB don't half arse it. It was blowing about 45* before.

^bummer - hope they get it fixed for ya and its a permanent fix this time. Especially going into summer!

Only good thing about a recurring issue under warranty, is you may be able to get it covered out of warranty if its a similar failure.

So far anyway, pretty much every review I've read of the new Accord notes just how well the car drives, and that it drives and handles better than the car that came before it. Honda promised during the 2013's introduction that the change from wishbones to MacPherson struts wouldn't degrade the handling of the car. Again, from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to have.

Many much higher-priced cars (and good handling cars) use MacPherson struts up front. They're not necessarily bad choices. They simply have to be tuned right. Honda appears to have done a commendable job with that.

Not quite. Some Hondas do break. Statements like ,"they all do that" or "can not duplicate" do not help when a part breaks.

Not really. Dealer should not sell broken new car without fixing it first. When the cause of a noise is something is broken, dealer Lies saying "they all do that" or "I do not hear the noise" are just lies. Lies to fool the customer. No customer should accept the abnormally noisy ac compressor car but some buyers trust the dealer, which is a mistake, or do not know that the noise is abnormal. What buyer likes to be lied to when buying a new car? Nobody. What new car buyer is happy when their now one year old car breaks, and does not cool the way it should after repair. Nobody.

Some owners have to lose time and money from work to make repeated trips for dealer fixing. Who would be happy to lose income by losing work? Nobody.

ALL cars/trucks break.....THAT is part of the ownership 'joys".

If the part is not broken, and in this case, still cooling, who is going to notice except MAYBE another mechanic. Obviously, the noise wasn't that concerning to the OP otherwise I'm sure he would not have purchased it. I don't see where anyone was lied to...as far as the salesman/owner/un-initiated maybe in their perception they all do it.

On the few occasions when mine is in for warranty work, I accept that it's going to happen and if they don't fix it right the first time, then they will the 2nd or 3rd. I've never missed work due to a warranty issue....I drop it off that evening or work it out somehow....I can almost guarantee I'm as busy as anyone else when you figure in my commute time which amounts to 3-3 1/2 hours per day plus a ten hour work day....but, I always manage to get it in when need be.

If someone purchases a car/truck and doesn't expect it to have SOME issue....well, I wished I lived on that planet.

Warm A/C.
Had an experience with my A/C ('92 Acura Vigor) - the TXV went on it, and it's about 40 hours of my work to get at it and replace it, so I tried a compressor replacement first (got a reman from Mexico off of EBay). Didn't fix it. So, down the long road of repair I went.

After everything is back together it never cooled as well. I did it again, then threw in the towel and took it to a pro A/C shop, who kept it for months but never fixed it either.

Several years later the reman compressor seized. I caught it in time (no metal shavings), so swapped it back out for the original I kept in a box all these years.
Suddenly, the system cools like it used to.

I'm guessing the reman unit didn't have the displacement the OEM did, so never did cool as well.

How did you come to the 45 degree number? Did you ever measure the temperature before or are you just guessing? What does the factory service manual say the temp should be at the specified ambient temp?

I'm no Honda fanboi however I still don't see Hyundai as being the same level of product that a Honda is, even though in some areas it is close.

Hyundai still can't get ride and handling down pat, and there are a lot of other things I don't care for either, like their manual shift gearboxes, they are [censored] quite frankly. Their prices are too high for what you get today as well.

Hyundai is a mass transport vehicle builder, while Honda should remain a sub-premium brand. Mazda is going for the sub premium market and Honda should too. Leave Hyundai to the appliance vehicle market.

They probably didnt replace the receiver/drier which they absolutely could have. If this compressor failed and sent metal into the a/c system, its likely trapped there. That drier needs replacing and should solve your poor cooling. Unfortunately for honda in this case it is likely part of the condenser, and will be forced to replace that.
