Well fellas its been a week since i returned so i thought i would post up about the trip.

I hauled the 2004 ninja 250R to Gatlinburn via my Silverado last week for the family vacation (i made plans to slide out one day and do some light sport touring) of course in another post i was troubled about changing the ninjas oil before i left.. upon examination the ninja was .5 qrt low, so i added motul 4T and strapped it in the truck.. i also added a set of sport touring nylon bags to the ninja for kicks. SO my wife slid out mid mornning and left baby boy with the grandparents who were sharing the cabin.. we took the parkway to 129 crossing over Deals Gap and got the tires buggered up ! stopped for a patch and a t-shirt., then on to the Cherohola Skyway. We crossed the Skyway by about 1/2 and stopped and turned around, (just didnt have time for the whole thing) then it was on to Cherokee Villiage. after a snack we crossed back over on 441 over the smokies and did the required stop ontop of clingmans dome. From there it was back through Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge and Steak dinner at the cabin.. it was a very good two up sport touring day. total miles was 241..

I will be taking the R1 with me next month for the "guys getaway" our annual treck myself and 5-10 close friends take to Deals Gap "the Dragon" "the hill".. you pick.. each year for 3-4 days of knee dragging and "just the guys time". Im looking forward to it.

Best
Otis

yep, on FB ! Im at work.. no access unfortunately.. but i know Killboy.com got a couple.. i will look up the date.

I'll be heading up to the gap either late this month or early october. I try to do it twice a year. Spend some time in Deal's gap and then do loops to Franklin/Sylva, Dahlonega/Suches/wolfpen gap, etc. Trying to figure out when it will be cooler but not cold. I think we will get a cabin in Blue Ridge this time instead of staying at Tapoco. Spending less time in the gap and more in the surrounding areas as the years wear on.

Im 100% with you on that, all the new guys love Deals Gap.. i still do too, but theres more to be offered than just that 11 mile stretch of road, ive been venturing out a little more into the surrounding areas as the years have been passing too. sometime in the not to distant future id like to ride the entire Blueridge.. were (the guys) going to be back there Oct 9-11 for a quick three day trip.

I will be up there from Oct 3rd to Oct 7th, assuming I can get all my ducks in a row. We did get a cabin in Blue Ridge. Now I just need to get tires for the bike and change the oil in the bike and truck, change the plugs and belts in the truck, do the bearings on the trailer, figure out why my left trailer stop light doesn't work, etc.

sheesh, sounds like a handfull, Im lucky this trip, My good buddy Rob, or "Grandpa" he's 52 and Fast, has a 3500 Turbo diesel Van, were hauling 6-8 bikes in the trailer.. so i have to do nothing but chip in on gas (Very sweet) Im going to throw fresh oil in the bike, i ordered fresh Pilot Pure's to put under the bike.. My hardest decision is if i should order new sparky pucks for the photo op's or not
