Just picked up this hot little number, 164K, for a friend's daughter. My dear friend Cindy recently lost her cancer battle; her daughter Lizzy is a lost young lady. This is her kick-start. Just serviced oil and trans, gassed her up (ouch) and needs 1 brake light.

It's solid transportation. It's kind of magical to me how it gets you around while sipping fuel.

My wife has a 2013 with 30k miles (doesn't drive much).
Just FYI: bought it used and I didn't know it had an asset tracker wired to it. Black box about the size of a small TV remote. Spent years just charging it if she didn't drive it for a few weeks, and replacing the 151R battery every 2 years. I retired and spent extra effort to look for a parasitic draw and found the box. It was very obvious when I used a mirror to look at the underdash fuse box.
It was an intermittent load (would turn on for a minute every 120 seconds, drawing 70mA). I seem to have missed it when I looked for a parasitic draw before. Now, it sits at 17-19mA.

Co-Worker picked up a lightly wrecked one a few months ago, and is working on making a "Race Car" out of it... he was just going to build the L series engine, but he's experienced project creep, and is currently swapping in a K24, with a WAY too big turbo.
he's estimating 500 wheel.

You're a good man @JeffKeryk the way you help others. Sorry about your friend.

My friend has I think a '10 Fit Sport manual transmission. The way the seats fold and the interior space is really quite amazing. He has hauled so much junk in that thing. He tossed some racks, roof box and 4 winter tires on for winter and it was his ski vehicle. I think he is about 220k now but rusting. A deer jumped in front of him toward the end of Covid with the crazy car prices. Insurance fixed it with over 200k at that time 😲.

My daughter once owned a fit and put a ton of miles on that car, oil changes, tires and brakes is all it ever needed, what a fantastic car, It held value like crazy and gave her good trade money when she got "New Car Fever" now hates she sold that FIT!

After a new amazon hub was built on my area I enjoy same day delivery and just curious I Googled how much do Amazon drivers earn and after leaning many drivers supply their own cars I Googled "best cars for Amazon drivers" and noticed the FIT was on that list.

The FIT has always been on the best used cars to buy list. I recently checked out FITS on Carvana and boy those Used FITS hold value so congrats on finding a low priced FIT!

OP encourage your friend to keep up on her FIT oil and transmission fluid changes and I bet it will run forever and will be an gas sipping inexpensive car to own and drive without the worry and complexity of a 15 year old car and a 15 year old aging battery found in many Hybrids.

My daughter once also owned a Pontiac Vibe ( Built by Toyota) that IMO is also a great 15 year old low price car to buy. I personally wish I had hung on to my old VW Jetta DIESEL . I miss that fuel sipping little diesel but my family after no more diesels moved from new VW to Honda.

My primary is a expensive Ram 3500 that eats diesel. I'm considering accepting a project / position that would require a rather long highway weekly commute for a year and has me thinking I sure could use a gas / diesel sipping, will run forever $5,000 car and keep the Ram for when I need the Ram.

Sure wish I had hung on to the FIT, Vibe or diesel Jetta as finding a inexpensive "great " $5,000 car in 2026 looks to be a hard thing to do.

Nice you are able to help your late friends daughter OP, nice looking car that I'm sure will help with less "worry" for that young lady and the Honda FIT, NOT having a timing belt is total win IMO, Nice Job OP!

Good on you, Jeff. Good deed with a good car, your friend’s daughter is very blessed to have you in her life.

That's debatable... Ha!
Not debatable at all, @JeffKeryk! You are a kind and generous individual who has exemplified the "Pay it Forward" philosophy.

By chance, is the 2011 Fit a replacement for the 1998 Accord that you were dealing with an idle issue in this recent BITOG thread?

Miss the MAGIC SEATS of the FITs' . I don't think any HONDAs' have them now . Silly , may have of bought another HONDA if equipped with it . I wonder if HONDA sold the rights to the MAGIC SEAT . The Ford Maverick has it and another vehicle that I can't think of . The FIT had more space ( depth ) behind the rear seat than the SOULs' :( . The rear seats also tilt slightly back to rest .

2015 > '20 . More options with this generation .

Jeff, good on ya!! How old was your friend and how old is her daughter? Not much is more painful than watching someone you love lose their battle with Cancer.

Cindy was in her early 60's. Lizzy is early 20's, not yet 25 I think. Her older sister, Jennifer is an accomplished RN in Napa. It's a loooooong story, as these things tend to be.
I swapped the air filters, added the wide-angle mirror mirrors and put the new plate registration sticker on. And a little chrome bling to dress up the blue paint.

I appreciate all the kind words, but Lizzy needs the guidance. She was raised, in part, in the carnival. If I can break the cycle of "hard work but always broke" I will be forever grateful. There are no promises, but ya gotta try. It's a life...

Years ago, Lizzy was failing sophomore high school in North Carolina. She wanted a cell phone. I told her if she did her homework, got in study groups, did whatever, I would get her an Ipnone on my plan. "But I can't get B's..." I replied, that's not what I said. Just try... 3 months later Lizzy was on the Honor Roll and graduated with Honors. She can do it but has zero direction. So I rag on her, but she knows I do it because I want the best for her.
