Nothing new here, just posting an update. I had to change early to replace my oil filter housing gasket.

Also, the oil filter housing gasket was changed at the time this sample was taken so may show something on the next UOA, not this one as indicated in the comments below.

COMMENT:Thanks for the info. We'll often see silicon read on the high side temporarily when new gaskets

are installed, but that's not the case for your BMW. Silicon held to just 3 ppm, which is okay with us since

there are also harmful sources of silicon (dirt/dust) that can be ruled out. The rest of the results continue to

show that there's a healthy engine under the hood. Metals are trending steadily and at levels that compare

well against averages. No fuel was found this time, and the TBN is good and high at 3.9, so you'd be fine

going 7,500 miles with the next oil.

Nice results. It looks like the M1 0w40 held its viscosity the best among these two brands. Also, I'm curious why the Fe was so low for the 7/9/2016 sample?

Nice catch, typo. It was actually 27

I can't edit it now

That was the old M1 formula, when it had the certification. The new FS formula is not certified, so I stopped using it. It may be OK but I switched to Castrol for piece of mind.

Looks like it is just flushing out from previous oils.

Old formula had some serious KV100 retention capabilities. In my VW CC it sheared down from 13.5 to 13.3 in 5k. However, it does not retained TBN very good. In my UOA it went to 2.2 in 5k.
