2010 toyota oci

since toyota has upped the oci to 10,000, will i have to change my beloved motorcraft 5/20 to a full synthetic?
will motorcraft make it, or should i just keep changing it @ 5,000 miles despite toyota's change.

the car is a 2010 camry se w/ the 2.5l.
50/50 hwy/city

What does your manual REQUIRE?

Does it state that you NEED a syn or does it read Approved API/SM starburst 5w-20?

If you operate in severe conditions, do you have another OCI period?

You need 0w-20 for 10,000 mile OCI.

If I were you, I might consider your 5-20 at 5000 miles for awhile.

I'd also consider sticking with the 5w20 MC @ 5k, or maybe bump it to 6-7k. Only way I'd go 10k would be on a synthetic, whether they say to do it with dino or not.

The car with 0W-20 synthetic from the factory so I wouldn't use anything else but Toyota's 0W-20 oil. If you want to maintain your warranty then stick with the 1 year or 10,000k mile OCI.

Is that oci recommendation for your 10 camry or is that what is put down on the oci window sticker for any car that comes through? I havent gotten my 2007 toyota changed at the dealer since 2008 when they wanted 5,000mi changes. I dont plan on going back either, $35 for a dino change isnt worth it for me.

For most 2010 models, Toyota now recommends 10,000 mile OCI's for normal use, and 5,000 mile OCI's for severe use. This long OCI is ONLY for vehicles using 0W-20 (meaning synthetic oil). I wouldn't go 10,000 miles on any conventional oil without watching it closely with used oil analysis

I'd go with the MC 5W-20, and 5k OCI.

You can probably do two MC changes for less than the price of 1 0W-20 change at 10k....

0W20 Synthetic at 10000 mile OCI

Its up to you which you prefer.

Thats really good to know and I hope that helps switch those people who dont care what goes in their cars to switch to a synthetic.
