2010 Mercury Mountaineer

What are the pros and cons? Looking at a one owner Premier model with 87,000 miles.

Good trucks. That's the last year of that generation and all common issues were ironed out by then. Does the one you're looking at have the V6 or V8?

Get one with the 4.6 v8
The 4.0 engines were not nearly as good we did a lot of those 4.0 engines. The 4.6 is a great engine but not so powerful in the mountaineer .. I drove the 8 cylinder mountaineer and the 6 cyl Hyundai Santa fe and the Santa fe both will blow the doors off the mountaineer. Both were 2010.

It has the 4.6 V8 and good maintenance history. Options include moonroof, heated seats, etc. AWD

Last of the Ford body-on-frame "Explorer". My son loves his. Had to replace front drive axles.

I really wanted one ... Test drove it but wasn't THAT impressed. I tried a new one when it came out and a used one with 100K a few weeks ago.
The V8 feels underpowered or detuned. I don't think it is that much of an upgrade from the Explorer below in terms of power. It is no sports truck.

Also, they tend to break exhaust studs and it is a difficult repair. Not sure if it is taken care of by 2010, may not be an issue.

ford 4.6 is a long lasting engine
