I have a 2010 Mercury Milan with the i4 recently I was running the ac and all of a sudden the fans stopped blowing cold air and smoke starting coming out from underneath the passenger side dash and there was a strong electrical burning odor I shut the ac and fan off and the smoke stopped I have not turned it on since anyone able to tell me what might be going on.

A guess... the blower motor has failed and the wiring burnt up. or...the blower motor resistor and connector failed and over heated. If you are mechanically skilled it's not a hard job to replace these parts or shop can change them for you.
The first possibility is what I’m worried of I’m currently unemployed 🫤

A blower motor looks to be incredibly easy to do on that car, should be the same steps as a Ford Fusion. Just a few screws.

You crawl under the dash and determine if it’s the blower motor or the resistor, and I’ll order you one on Amazon, send me a PM.
