2010 Jeep Liberty 4X4?

Okay guys, we are considering the purchase of a 2010 Liberty. Any thoughts or experiences out there? It would be my wife's car, and would replace a 2002 Liberty that we bought new. It has been a good vehicle.

Of course this model is a redesigned model -- and I'd appreciate any first hand accounts that I can get.

Are the engine choices still the same? The 3.7 is a fuel drinker.

Yes, still the 3.7L. And yes, not bashful on gasoline.

The 3.7 is a good engine and Chrysler usually doesn't muck around with what works in terms of engines/transmissions so you should be ok.

I have an 07 Liberty with 42K miles on it. Absolutely no mechanical/electrical issues. The only problem is the driver's seat bolster is cracking (vinyl). Leather is wearing fine. Run it on Amsoil 0W-20 and change it at about 15K miles. One very good feature (and a lot will disagree with me) is there is no back hatch but a door which opens from the correct side (you are not exposed to traffic) unlike the RAV4. The 2010 Liberty has a hatch. Gas mileage is decent and would be somewhat better with a 5 or 6 speed automatic vs the antiquated 4 speed. For town/rural driving we get about 18 - 19 mpg and up to 22 mpg on the road holding at 70 mph. Mechanicaly, the 2007 and 2010 are indentical. We like the Liberty a lot.

I have an 08, which is pretty much the exact same thing as the 2010. No complaints in fact I like it. It gets about 20 mpg mixed, leaning more toward highway driving. It will be interesting to see what engine transmission combo they use for 2011 and 2012.

I would look at the Nitro, they have a package with the 4.0 and the 5 spd auto.

Or wait one year when the Pentstar V6 goes into them.

The Nitro isn't a bad looking vehicle, but you know the old saying .... "if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" ... so Liberty it will be!
