2010 Impala transmission issues?

Morning-

I'm having a weird issue with my 2010 Impala. Now that it has been cold the roads are pretty slick in MN. When I go to pull away from a stop sign and the tire(s) spin the traction control kicks on. With this I am getting a loud grinding noise from what sounds like the transmission and the car struggles to move with the traction control light blinking. It seems to be worse when I am turning from a stop sign and one wheel slips. I have to let off the throttle so the TC light goes off then it will pull away.

On dry pavement it never does this, pulls away just fine, trans shifts nice and strong.

I know the fluid levels are good, I dropped the pan and replaced the fluid and filter about 10K ago. It did this before that too so it's not the fluid.

I've felt ABS before and thought that maybe Chevy's traction control system was trying to help get me going by limiting wheel slip but this feels/sounds different.

Any insight would be awesome. It is under warranty but I always like to know if what I am hearing is actually a issue before I bring it in.

ABS usually makes a grinding/growling noise. i imagine its ABS fighting with traction at the same time. wouldnt worry about it.

+3 ABS all my GM ABS units do that.

That grinding is just the ABS. My Sedona, and many other cars, use the ABS as a means of traction control. The grinding/crunching noise is pretty awful, but it's normal.

Some cars do have very noisy traction control systems -- my old Ford Contour certainly did. I believe it was related to how it interfaces with the ABS pump.

I'll keep driving it and if it gets worse I'll bring it in.

its not the abs its your traction control they will make a noise and if that is the noise you hear that is what it is. if u have a switch to turn it off try it if the noise stops that was your tc

... and how does the traction control work? It piggybacks on ABS. Uses the wheel speed sensors and the brakes to grab the one wheel spinning faster than the other three.

In a GM ABS helps the Traction Control, so it ABS making the noise. Traction control is a side affect
