I believe you are correct. What I really do not understand is why the new Maxda6 has been given the 3.7 liter V-6 and the 2.5 liter 4, when the Ford Fusion has to make do with the 2.3 liter 4 and the old 3.0 liter v-6, except in the Sport model which has been given the 3.5 V-6. The Taurus has a 3.5 V-6 as its only engine; Why has the Maxda6 been given the 3.7, same as the Lincoln?


There is always an exception. Mazda took that 3.5L V6 and overhauled it a bit into a 3.7L. So that 3.7L is only going to appear in mazdas from what i have found. That engine is also in the CX-7 or CX-9, cant remember which one.

The 2010 fusion gets the 2.5L instead of the 2.3L but gets a better transmission than the Mazda6 will have.

blueoval is all atwitter wondering what the SHO will have,rumours are that ecoboost on E85 can do 400 hp

More like Mazda took the 3.7 from the Ford drawing boards and decided to assemble it in Japan.

Lincoln also uses the 3.7 in the MKS.

According to Automotive News, the Sable is being discontinued. Which makes sense when you think about how few Montegos/Sables they have made since the redesign several years ago.

Mazda was the first to manufacture the 3.7L MZI in their Hiroshima plant and it went in the 2008 CX-9. It was the first production 3.7L. The first 3.7L duratec went into the 2009 Lincoln MKS.

Odds are, from past history, Ford designed the 3.5L and then had Mazda tweak it into the 3.7L which they are using, too.
