2010 Chrysler 300- Shifting Issues When Cold Out.

I'm going to ask this question again, as I didn't get enough responses on this issue last time I posted. I see a big issue when it's 25 F out or below. So it won't shift up into 2nd very well or 3rd. When it does get to the 4th Gear you can tell the convertor won't unlock this happens on all the gears, but worse on this gear. Fluids where checked and dealer said they are good, checked for codes and updates on transmission, nothing found. I believe my torque convertor isn't operating correctly, as my Father has felt shutter on it when we where stopped at a light. I have had cluncks happen going into 2nd or dropping down to 2nd to low. But the cold weather is really effecting the shifting. Eventually it will shift when I drove it for about 4 or 5 miles.

I would take the car to another dealer, you sound like you know a bit about how a transmission should operate and it sounds like this dealer does not want to correct the issue. You are under warranty so you need to get them to honor it.

I'd put a call into Chrysler Corporate and get a case opened.

It sounds like the ATF currently in your system does not like cold temps. Have you considered a trans flush with a synthetic ATF?

It has Chrysler Mopar ATF #4 in it original from Factory, which is full synthetic, good for 100,000 miles.

If it is a Chrysler with 56,000 miles and shifting hard you have about 15-20,000 until the trans takes a dump. Chryslers are notorious for horrible transmissions. Plus, now they are sourcing bearings and other critical components from China. But if you have the 100k warranty you are covered. BTW, the ATF is really only good for 50-60,000 miles.

Document each time you have them work on the vehicle for the same problem. The next time tell them this is for the same problem that you previously brought it in for and you are fed up and will have to contact an attorney to exercise your rights under the Lemon Law. And if they do not get it fixed follow through, and get an attorney.

Years ago a friend of mine who works for an attorney had a new vehicle that has a water leak around the windshield. After three attempts by the dealer to fix it, and it still leaked, she had her boss write a legal letter to them regarding using the Lemon Law if they did not get it fixed the next time. They pulled the windshield completely out and put it back in so there was no chance of it still leaking.

The Lemon Law is a Big Club that you can get an attorney to wave or use if required. Use it.

Not on Ohio....if this all happens within the first 12 months/12000 miles it is but otherwise forget it. Besides he has a 100k warranty so any attorney will tell him to get it fixed under warranty.
