2009 Pontiac G5 - chirping blower motor

My girlfriend has a 2009 Pontiac G5 with about 29.2k miles on it. The blower motor chirps/squeaks randomly on any setting except 4 (highest). This vehicle has manual A/C controls. The vehicle is just out of warranty, and the dealer could not duplicate the issue and thankfully waived the diagnostic fee. The blower motor apparently has made noise since a short time after it was new.

I changed the cabin air filter about 700 miles ago and the squeaking seems to have become more frequent. Is the motor dying? Is there any way I can fix it? Could debris in the blower cage be causing the noise? A new AC Delco blower motor is $93.79 from RockAuto, so replacement might be worthwhile. Is the blower motor easy to remove?

Chirping blowers are usually a sign of dry bushings(they dont use roller bearings usually).For some reason,GM has had a bad history of blower motor (and resistor) failure.Ever since the 70s,I have experienced that phenomonon.The Chryslers I have had havent suffered the same record.Maybe its a case of cost cutting to the extreme..

My Saturn chirps like crazy, it is constant and while not very loud it is noticable. Been like that since March of 2011 when I bought it. The blower still puts out plenty of air, and until it doesn't I am not going to fix it.

Common issue with the cars. I have a 2008 G5 and its blower motor chirped/squeaked shortly after it left the dealer lot. I have noticed within the past year it doesn't make anymore noise and it now has 92,000 miles.

My '08 G5 chirped around 20K miles. It went awry and seems fine now at 42K.

Saturns have the same issues. I had an 04 ION that started chirping and eventually stopped by itself. It was a common question that came up on saturnfans.com frequently. Most reported that it eventually went away, but some found it hard to deal with. From the repair descriptions I thought the cure was much worse than the disease.

Bad blower motor bearings.

With old GM cars, we would sometimes drill the end cap and squirt oil in there, and seal the hole for a quick fix.

I hope yours is an easy one to get to. Many are changeable is 10 minutes under the dash on the driver's side.

It would take me longer to get the passenger side 'closeout panel' off, then to actually change the blower motor on my f body.

Sometimes you can get the noise to stop for a short period of time by slapping the dashboard near the blower motor.

But there is no way to make the noise permanantley unless you replace the blower motor.
