2008 Mustang stock Pirellis

How many miles have other Mustang GT owners been about to get out the stock Pirellis? They seem like decent tires. I've run them for 20,000 miles now. I'll probably run 25,000 miles in 2010 and trying to figure on whether I need to budget for replacements. I rotate every 7500 miles or so ...

Any tire recs for replacement other than Pirelli would be great as well. I have 17 inch wheels.

I would not depend on these getting past 35K.

OE tires are notorious for their poor wear qualities.

On the other hand, straight line driving = long wear life. - and if you plan to put 25K on next year, that's going to be a lot of driving on interstates - and tire wear is slow if you don't do much cornering.

Yeah, it's basically almost all highway/interstate driving. But I don't want to push my luck either.

That same tire came on my 06 GT. I ruined one at a little over 25k. They were more than half worn so I replaced them all. I would say to plan on buying some next year. I replaced mine with Kumho ASX in 255/50/17. They look better on the car (wider but about the same height). I'm pleased with the traction and have about 15k on them now. I estimate they will be good for about 30k.

By the way, your wheel is 8" wide. The 255's are still good for that wheel but no wider.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus would be a good choice if you want a performance-oriented all-season tire with a treadwear warranty.

If you can live with a summer tire, then the Yokohama S.Drives are much less expensive and will greatly improve grip. However, they will only last you about 25k.

Why waste your time on all season tires? My Mazda6 came with 215/45/18 PZero Nero all seasons, and they're a good tire, but there's no chance in [censored] I'd drive with them in the winter. I have Pilot Alpin PA3's for the winter. When the PZero's wear out, I'm going to get these puppies:

I was thinking about buying separate winter tires on cheap wheels but because we only get light snow/ice (usually) where I live so I decided against it. When the snow/ice gets too serious, I just avoid driving the car.

If I lived 100 miles further north, I would go the winter tire route for sure.

i would be completely ecstatic if my PS2s lasted 25k miles. literally, i would be jumping for joy.

I like having a high performance all season tire. Some of them give near summer tire performance and are still usable in winter. They usually have better tread wear and are quieter than a summer tire. I agree that a Mustang GT is about the last thing I want to drive if it gets really bad.
