Shell Rotella dropped it's gas rating due to the converter issues with Zinc and phosphorous. IIRC.

That's a legit reason to drop the gas rating, and it's still the same oil otherwise so we can keep using it as always.

For me 3000 mile OCI typically comes from limited length of our riding season, especially when there are several bikes to use.

On a Goldwing with only 3000 miles, you could probably bottle the used oil and sell it like new. I know my oil is just starting to turn a darker amber at 3000 miles. I would leave it in for another season.
Both my Hondas specify 8000 mile oil change intervals and 16000 mile oil filter change intervals. I believe your Goldwing is similar.
