I know I shouldn't have to ask but; Some siblings & I got together & bought our Mother a 2008 Camry. I was looking a few things over before I bring it to her, 360 miles away. The car has 29,000 miles on it. The dealer said they changed the oil when it came in, and it looks rather clean. So I will pass on the oil change I was thinking about. I took a look from above & the location of the oil filter is not readily apparent. Could someone point it out for me? Is it easier to see from underneath? So far I see the engine & 'cabin' air filters could use replacement & will do that today. I was also about ready to do the change with 5w30 oil. Do you guys really go down to 5w-20 with the Camry engine oil? 4 cyl base engine. Thanks

Is it still a 2AZ-FE? if so, it is mounted upside down and vertically from the bottom of the engine. You'll need to slide under.

Lightest recommendation in Australia is 10w30, I think in the US 5w-20 is ok in the 2AZ for very recent years.

I will look from the bottom. I usually like to change oil without jacking or ramps(trucks & Vibe). This car looks a little tight underneath without a lift. My plan was to reach in from the side if able.

I would see if you could get the dealer to flash the transmission with the latest software (per TSB) to address any shift/driveability issues.
