Is it Direct Injected by chance? That definitely can cause a fuel smell on the dipstick. Some oil's do better than others though. If not, get a used oil analysis to be sure nothing is wrong.

not direct injection. I did not notice it before I used the syntec. this is at least the second case of a fuel smell on the dipstick.

I'm using Syntec Blend right now in My Mazda 3. It was on sale with a filter for pretty cheap. Car really seems to like it.

The car does like it. It really reduced the valve train noise. I just checked it again and the oil on the dipstick smells normal so i have no idea

Still going to try the Ultra and most likely the edge. It all depends how the car likes the ultra. 15yr/500,000 mile warranty sounds pretty good lol. edge is 15/350,000. supposedly.

If you run the Castrol EDGE, try the 10w30 instead of the 5w30, it has a better add pack and is a bit thicker than the super thin 5w30. I *REALLY* like Castrol EDGE 10w30. One of the best add packs I've ever seen.

My engine calls for 5w-20. At heaviest, i'd go with the 5w30. I'd really like a 0w-20 but cannot find any that exists with the edge, heck i cant even find 5w-20 edge locally. 10w30 seems too heavy for my engine.

Do you have any Advance Auto Parts in your area? They carry the Castrol EDGE 0w20.

I do, but have not checked with them. Not sure if they have the 5qt jugs or not, it gets pricey without them.

Do you think the 0w-20 Edge is too thin?

If i cannot seem to locate the 5w-20 or the 0w-20 i'm going to use the PU.

Same extreme fuel smell in the oil in my '02 V6 Accord.

I would try 5w30 after warranty!
