"It WILL scratch the paint" is a blanket statement that is not always accurate. I've had a bra on nearly every car I've owned and they never caused ANY damage. BUT....taking care of them is key. They must be removed when wet, cleaned, and re-installed on a clean car. They also must be removed and cleaned periodically even if moisture isn't an issue. No matter how careful you are, dirt and dust find their way underneath the bra, which CAN be abrasive to paint if not taken care of from time to time. I found on several vehicles that keeping fresh wax applied to the paint that's covered by the bra, it helps protect from abrasion to an extent, but it's not a replacement for cleaning and care. I highly recommend bras to those who will take care of them, and I also warn against bras to those who may be neglectful. If you think you may be the person that washes the car without removing the bra, please don't get one. They CAN bite you in the #@$%!, but WON'T if you take care of them. Recommended brand: Colgan. Stay away from LeBra.
Cars I've installed bras on, with NO issues:
1986 Civic Si
1985 Olds Calais
1991 Civic Si (2nd worst bra experience - 1-Piece Wolf..pain in the a** to remove and install)
1991 Eagle Talon TSi
1993 Plymouth Sundance Duster
1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse
2000 Nissan Sentra
2002 Nissan Altima (Best bra experience - Colgan Custom)
2004 Mazda 3i Sedan (Worst bra - Mazda Brand which strongly resembled a LeBra)
