I recently purchased a 2006 Takeuchi TL-150 Skidsteer. I plant to change the fluids and filters when it arrives,
and I was reading that the hydraulic system spec seays 10w30 CD diesel oil. Diesel engine oil has changed since
the CD spec, are ZDDP levels important for a hydraulic system? In general it's my impression the anti-wear additives
have been reduced for emissions reasons which really don't apply to a hydraulic system.
The HST pump is a Variable displaceent type double axial piston (PVM4141)
The Gear Pump is ia Tandem Gear (SD1A4018E2H1-R211M)
In addition to concerns about anti-wear additives, I reviewed the post at:
https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/hydraulic-fluid-replacement-for-10w-30.337982/
Where DriveHard stated that axial piston pumps "chew through VI improvers like candy". Does this mean the 10w30
oil gets chewed to 10w or 30?
I'm basically wondering if I should use a 10w TO-4 hydraulic oil instead of engine oil...or some other sort of
hydraulic fluid. I live in Florida, so it really doesn't get very cold here. The very occasional day is a freeze but
that's so rare I can simply avoid running the machine when it's that cold.
Engine oil wise it seemed like 15w-40 Delvac extreme might be good? It seemed to have reasonable ZDDP levels assuming
I wasn't looking at too old of a virgin oil analysis on this site. I'm open to suggestions, of course. I don't claim
to have any great knowledge of these things, so I'm turning to the experts
