My Mazda has had an engine tap/knock for years now. I don't hear it when I'm driving and oddly enough there are days when it's quiet and knock free. I found this video on youtube of a Ford Escape that sounds pretty similar to my knock.

I just hit 100K and had a clean UOA done on the engine. Should I be worried if my goal is 200k?

Thanks!

I agree...it's more like a tapping than a knocking. The odd thing is, it's only about 70% of the time.

If it doesn't do it all the time makes me lean even more towards an injector issue.

I would be tempted to run a top spec Injector cleaner through it, the kind that goes in the filter rather than the tank as they are much more efficient.

I've run both Lucas and Sea Foam through the tank on several occassions...what is this "top spec Inj cleaner" you speak of?

Few tanks of Shell Octane 91/94 with complete fuel-system treatment is the first thing I would do! Please make sure oil is at max.

Also from the forums, thicker oil will mask the noise but not necessarily fix it, so I like to believe few regular OCI's with a thin oil having a strong addpack like PU 5W20 should also help!
