2005 Ford Focus Rear Defroster and AC button are inoperable when cold

During the winter months.... 2005 Ford Focus Rear Defroster and AC button will not work unless car is warmed up by the heater. Are there any items I can do to troubleshoot this or fix it? They work fine once the car is warmed up by the heater or during the warmer months. Seems like it would be some type of contact, but don't think it is in the button.

I would check the connections on the back of the panel then the switches. Works after using the heat would imply slight expansion.

Old relays can get temperature sensitive in my experience.
